"For the Love of Music Since 1866"
Sophia Heaton is 13 years old and home educated. She started violin lessons at the age of 3 in a Suzuki strings program. She is a student of Angie Smart, and formerly of David Liu.
Sophia was pleased to join the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra this season. Prior to joining the SLSYO, she played in several of Webster University’s CMS orchestras. This summer (2019), she attended the Violin Institute of the Interlochen Arts Camp.
In addition to playing the violin, Sophia enjoys reading, drawing, bird-watching, writing stories and listening to classical music. She also loves flowers, especially roses, and has been researching and drawing up plans for a garden of her own.
She appreciates her violin teachers, and the conductors she has played for, and values their instruction, advice and encouragement. She is grateful to her parents and grandparents for generously supporting her violin education, and for cheering her on! Above all, Sophia is thankful to God, and seeks to honor Him in her life and music. Soli Deo Gloria!
