Third Place Winner
Jacob Sheldon is currently a Junior at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis. He started playing the violin at the age of nine but switched to the viola the following year, claiming that it was because the violin E string gave him a headache. He is currently studying viola with Joanna Mendoza, the violist of the Arianna String Quartet. Jacob has also been a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra and Webster Community Music School’s Preparatory Program for two years. He is the principal violist in his school’s chamber orchestra and sat as the associate principal violist for his Carnegie Hall performance with the Honors Performance Series. When Jacob is not playing his instrument he enjoys hanging out with friends and participating in his many extracurricular activities. He is his grade’s class President, captain of the swim team, a member of Youth Leadership St. Louis, and much more. Jacob would like to thanks his family, friends, and teachers for supporting him throughout his music career. He would not be where he is today without them.
